Meet Dr. Rivard
Dr. Cora Rivard
Dr. Rivard received her doctorate in naturopathic medicine from National College of Naturopathic Medicine (NCNM) in Portland, OR in 2005, which has since grown to become National University of Naturopathic Medicine (NUNM).
NUNM is the original accredited graduate program for naturopathic medical training in the United States. She completed a four-year, full time post-graduate academic program inclusive of 2 years of clinical rounds in community outpatient clinics, and one year of internship at a clinic focusing on the naturopathic treatments of cardiopulmonary and endocrine disorders. Dr. Rivard has passed rigorous national board exams to become eligible for state licensure, and she completes ongoing continuing education requirements in pharmacy, naturopathic, functional, and integrative medicine training in order to maintain licensure in the state of New Hampshire. In recent years, that has also included over 100 hours in additional training in certificate programs partnered with Harvard Medical School in Mind Body Medicine, Lifestyle Medicine, Culinary Medicine, Pediatrics and Adult Primary Care.
Dr. Rivard is an active board member of the New Hampshire Association of Naturopathic Doctors (NHAND).
She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Health Sciences at James Madison University in Virginia with a minor in Biology and a focus on pre-physical therapy studies.
Dr. Rivard’s pre-naturopathic doctor life included working for UPS Logistics Group in the corporate headquarters designing logistical support solutions for technology partners who had over $10 million or higher in annual contracts, volunteering as an EMT, and volunteering as an equestrian therapy assistant for children with physical and neurological disabilities.
My Philosophy and Approach
You are more than just a diagnosis, therefore, my approach is not “one size fits all.” I know that there are many factors that influence your health and recovery, such as lifestyle, how you eat and move, prior diagnoses, occupational requirements, genetics, emotions, seasonal aggravations and so much more. Therefore, I take the necessary time to better understand your specific story, as well as your priorities. Your treatment plan, or your family member’s treatment plan, will be uniquely personalized to fit the underlying causes and aggravating factors. Plans are designed to be sustainable and flexible because I want you and yours to be happy and healthy for a lifetime!
My goal is to increase wellness for the individual, the family, and the community. I work to empower each patient with education and the necessary tools so that they can maintain an optimal state of health with less reliance on riskier and more costly pharmaceutical interventions.
I have trained extensively in the safe and proper use of holistic and natural medicine, including functional and integrative training, to provide the highest level of expertise in the safe and effective treatment within these disciplines.
As a N.H. licensed naturopathic doctor, I am also able to prescribe a limited selection of medications, when necessary, from standard pharmacies as well as compounding pharmacies.
I am able to work together as a team with a patient’s PCP and specialists. As needed, I refer patients to medical specialists and other community health services.
